Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately stop the generator, isolate all ignition sources, and ventilate the area. Do not smoke or use open flames near the generator.
- Inspect for leaks: Using a flashlight, inspect the baseframe, under the engine, and around the fuel filters and hoses for wet diesel. Place absorbent pads under any drips.
- Tighten fittings: Carefully tighten hose clamps and threaded fittings on supply and return lines. Do not overtighten plastic components.
- Replace damaged parts: Replace cracked filter bowls, hoses, or seals with Kohler-SDMO approved parts.
- Check leak sensor: If no leak is found, inspect the fuel leak sensor in the drip tray. Clean any contamination and test its operation. Replace if it falsely triggers.
- Reset alarm: After fully resolving leaks and cleaning spilled fuel, clear AL20 and test run while monitoring for new leaks.
Significant fuel leaks are a fire and environmental hazard; if you cannot quickly locate and fix the leak, contact a service technician.
