Possible Causes
Leaking oil pan gasket, Loose oil filter, Cracked rocker cover gasket, Faulty oil leak sensor in drip tray
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the engine is off and cannot start automatically. Use absorbent materials to contain any oil spill.
- Locate leak: Inspect around the oil filter, sump, rocker cover, and turbo oil lines for fresh oil. Follow any oil trails to the source.
- Tighten components: Carefully tighten the oil filter and accessible bolts on covers and sumps to the specified torque.
- Replace gaskets/seals: If a gasket is visibly damaged or leaking, replace it using Kohler-SDMO specified parts.
- Check leak sensor: Inspect the oil leak sensor in the baseframe tray. Clean oil from the sensor and tray. If the alarm persists with no active leak, replace the sensor.
- Reset and test: Clear AL21 and run the generator briefly while monitoring for new leaks.
Large or sudden oil leaks can lead to engine damage; do not operate until the leak is fully resolved.
