Possible Causes

Loose gas pipe fittings, Cracked flexible gas hose, Faulty gas regulator diaphragm, Improperly sealed pipe threads

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately shut off the gas supply at the manual shutoff valve, turn generator OFF, open main breaker, and ventilate the area. Do not operate electrical switches or create sparks.

  • Leak detection: Apply a soap-and-water solution to gas joints and look for bubbles indicating leaks.
  • Inspect hoses: Check flexible gas connectors for cracks or abrasion. Replace if damaged.
  • Regulator: If gas is leaking from the regulator vent, the regulator diaphragm has failed and must be replaced.

All gas piping repairs and leak corrections should be performed by a licensed gas fitter familiar with Kohler generator requirements.
