Possible Causes
Damaged or collapsed engine mounts, Unbalanced alternator rotor, Loose mounting bolts to concrete pad, Misaligned coupling (on some liquid-cooled sets)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn generator OFF and open main breaker before inspecting mounts.
- Mounting bolts: Verify that all base frame bolts to the concrete pad are tight.
- Engine mounts: Inspect rubber isolation mounts between engine/alternator and base for cracking or collapse. Replace if deteriorated.
- Visual alignment: On sets with separate engine and alternator, check for obvious misalignment or loose coupling hardware.
Severe vibration can damage wiring and components; if not resolved by tightening and mount replacement, have a technician check rotor balance and alignment.
