Possible Causes

Low coolant level, Failed radiator fan or fan belt, Blocked radiator fins, Faulty coolant temperature sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not open the radiator cap on a hot engine. Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and let the unit cool completely.

  • Check coolant level: Remove the radiator cap only when cool. Coolant should be near the top of the neck or at the FULL mark in the overflow bottle. Top up with the correct premixed coolant recommended by Kubota.
  • Inspect for leaks: Look around radiator, hoses, water pump, and cylinder head for dried coolant residue or wet spots. Tighten hose clamps and replace cracked hoses.
  • Clean radiator fins: From the outside, blow compressed air through the radiator and oil cooler fins to remove dust, grass, or debris. Avoid bending fins.
  • Check fan and belt: Verify the engine-driven fan spins freely and the belt has proper tension (about 1/2 inch deflection). Replace worn or cracked belts and tension correctly.
  • Test coolant temperature sensor: Locate the sensor on the cylinder head or thermostat housing. Inspect the connector. Use a multimeter to check resistance vs. temperature according to Kubota specs. Replace if readings are out of range.
  • Controller reset: After correcting issues, reconnect battery, clear E02 on the controller, and run the generator under light load while monitoring temperature.
