Possible Causes
Air in fuel lines after filter change, Clogged fuel filter, Loose fuel line fittings, Weak fuel lift pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and close the fuel shutoff valve at the tank. Keep sparks and open flames away from diesel fuel.
- Inspect fuel filters: Check the Kubota primary and secondary fuel filters for recent replacement or signs of contamination. Replace if dirty, ensuring O-rings are properly seated.
- Bleed air from system: Open the manual bleed screws on the fuel filter housing and injection pump. Use the hand priming pump (if equipped) until fuel flows without bubbles, then close the screws.
- Check fuel line fittings: Tighten hose clamps and fittings on the suction side from tank to lift pump. Air leaks on the suction side can cause E09 without visible fuel leakage.
- Test lift pump: With the engine cranking or key in run (depending on design), verify that the electric or mechanical lift pump delivers a strong, bubble-free fuel stream at the inlet to the injection pump. Replace the lift pump if output is weak.
- Fuel quality: Inspect fuel for water or algae contamination. If present, drain the tank, clean it, and refill with fresh diesel.
