Possible Causes
Loose or damaged oil filter, Worn crankshaft seals, Leaking valve cover gasket, Cracked oil pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and place absorbent pads under the leak area. Avoid slipping hazards.
- Clean and inspect: Wipe down oily areas with rags to identify the fresh leak source. Check around the oil filter, drain plug, and valve cover.
- Oil filter and drain plug: Ensure the Kubota oil filter is hand-tight plus a small additional turn as specified. Verify the drain plug is snug and has an intact gasket.
- Valve cover gasket: If oil is seeping from the top of the engine, the valve cover gasket may be hardened. Replace the gasket and torque bolts evenly.
- Crank seals and pan: Oil at the front or rear of the engine may indicate crankshaft seal or oil pan gasket leaks. These repairs are more involved and may require engine removal (technician recommended).
- Refill and monitor: Top up engine oil to the correct level and monitor for further leakage during a test run.
