Possible Causes
Loose fuel line fittings, Cracked rubber fuel hoses, Leaking injection pump seals, Leaking fuel filter seals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, close the fuel shutoff valve, and eliminate all ignition sources. Diesel is flammable and spills are environmental hazards.
- Trace the leak: Follow fuel lines from the tank to the engine, looking for wet areas or drips. Use a clean rag to wipe and recheck.
- Tighten fittings: Carefully tighten any loose flare nuts or hose clamps. Do not overtighten aluminum or plastic fittings.
- Replace hoses: If hoses are cracked, hardened, or swollen, replace them with fuel-rated hose of the correct size and pressure rating.
- Filter seals: Inspect the Kubota fuel filters for proper installation. Ensure old O-rings were removed and new ones are lubricated and seated correctly.
- Injection pump seals: If fuel is seeping from the pump body or shaft seals, the pump should be rebuilt or replaced by a diesel specialist.
