Possible Causes
Fuel shutoff solenoid not energizing, Air in fuel system, Weak compression due to engine wear, Incorrect starting procedure or disabled auto mode
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the generator is in OFF mode and cannot auto-start unexpectedly while you work.
- Verify controller mode: Confirm the Kubota controller is in MANUAL or AUTO as required and that no start inhibit timers are active.
- Check fuel shutoff solenoid: With an assistant cranking the engine, feel or listen for the click of the fuel shutoff solenoid at the injection pump. Measure voltage at its connector; if no voltage, trace wiring back to the controller. If voltage is present but the plunger does not move, replace the solenoid.
- Bleed fuel system: Open bleed screws on the fuel filter and injection pump and use the hand primer until fuel is free of air. Tighten screws and retry starting.
- Check air intake: Ensure the air filter is not completely blocked and that the intake duct is clear.
- Compression check: If the engine cranks quickly with no smoke and never attempts to fire, a compression test may be needed to rule out internal engine wear (technician recommended).
