Lifan controller shows E05 and the generator will not start or shuts down quickly.

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and shut off the fuel supply valve if equipped.

• Check fuel level and quality: Ensure the fuel tank or external fuel supply (LPG/NG) is adequate. For gasoline or diesel models, drain a small sample from the tank bottom and look for water or debris.
• Replace fuel filter: Locate the in-line Lifan fuel filter between the tank and carburetor/injection pump. Clamp the fuel line, remove the old filter, and install a new fuel filter with the flow arrow pointing toward the engine.
• Inspect air filter: Remove the air filter cover and element. If the element is dark, oily, or clogged, replace the air filter element. Do not run without a filter except briefly for testing.
• Check spark plug and ignition (gas models): Remove the spark plug, inspect for fouling, and set the gap to Lifan spec. Replace the spark plug if worn. Ensure the ignition coil connector is tight.
• Governor spring and linkage: Verify the governor spring is intact and properly attached. If the engine hunts or cannot maintain speed, the spring may be stretched and should be replaced.
• Test run: Reconnect battery, start in MANUAL, and monitor engine speed/frequency. If E05 persists, deeper fuel system or compression issues may require a technician.
