Possible Causes
Emergency stop button engaged, Open circuit in remote stop wiring, Faulty emergency stop switch, Miswired external shutdown input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Confirm the generator is not running and cannot start automatically. Keep the transfer switch open.
- Check emergency stop button: Locate the red E-STOP on the Lifan generator enclosure. If it is pressed in, twist or pull (depending on design) to reset it. Verify the E08 clears.
- Inspect E-STOP wiring: Open the control panel and trace the two wires from the emergency stop switch to the Lifan controller terminals. Look for loose spade connectors or broken wires. Repair with proper crimp terminals.
- Remote stop circuits: If your system uses external shutdowns (fire alarm, building management), verify those contacts are closed under normal conditions. Temporarily bypass the remote stop input at the controller (per Lifan wiring diagram) to confirm the external circuit is the cause.
- Test the switch: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the emergency stop switch. Replace it if it does not open/close reliably.
- Reset controller: After correcting the issue, power cycle the controller and test AUTO start by simulating a power outage.
