Possible Causes
No fuel to carburetor or injectors, Faulty ignition coil, Defective crankshaft position sensor, Choked carburetor jets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and shut off fuel supply. Allow the engine to cool.
- Verify fuel delivery: Open the drain on the carburetor bowl (gas models) or loosen an injector line (diesel) to confirm fuel reaches the engine when cranking. If dry, check the fuel pump and filter.
- Inspect spark (gas models): Remove the spark plug, reconnect the wire, and ground the plug body to the engine. Crank the engine and look for a strong blue spark. If no spark, test and replace the ignition coil or CDI module as per Lifan specs.
- Clean carburetor: If fuel is present but the plug is dry, remove the carburetor and clean the main jet and idle passages with carb cleaner and compressed air. Install a new carburetor assembly if heavily corroded.
- Crankshaft position sensor: On EFI or advanced ignition models, check the crank sensor near the flywheel. Inspect the connector and measure resistance. Replace the crankshaft position sensor if out of spec.
- Reset and test: After repairs, clear E13 by cycling controller power and attempt a manual start.
