How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and isolate from utility power.
- Power cycle controller: Remove controller power by disconnecting its supply fuse or battery for 1–2 minutes, then reconnect. Check if E16 clears.
- Inspect power supply wiring: Verify tight connections at the controller’s +12 V and ground terminals. Look for corrosion or loose screws.
- Check for moisture: Open the control panel and inspect the Lifan controller PCB for signs of moisture, condensation, or insect damage. Dry gently and correct any enclosure sealing issues.
- Firmware update or replacement: If available from Lifan, reload firmware using the recommended service tool. If the error persists, replace the Lifan digital controller.
- Surge protection: Consider adding surge protection on AC inputs to prevent future controller damage.
