Possible Causes

Faulty oil temperature sensor, Defective oil level sensor in sump, Damaged wiring harness to oil sensors, Incorrect sensor type installed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and allow the engine to cool. Verify oil level before running.

  • Check oil level: Confirm the oil level is correct on the dipstick. Top up with the specified oil if low.
  • Inspect oil sensors: Some Lifan engines use a combined oil level/temperature sensor in the sump. Inspect the connector and wiring for damage or oil contamination.
  • Test sensor: Remove the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature, then in warm oil, comparing to Lifan specs. Replace the oil level/temperature sensor if readings are incorrect.
  • Harness continuity: Check continuity from the sensor connector to the controller input pins. Repair any open or shorted wires.
  • Reset and test: After replacement, clear E20 and run the generator while monitoring for further alarms.
