Possible Causes
Partially blocked radiator or cooling fins, Failing radiator fan motor, Low coolant level, Dirty oil causing higher friction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the generator to cool fully before opening the enclosure or radiator cap. Disconnect battery negative.
- Clean cooling system: Blow out radiator fins and engine cooling fins with low-pressure compressed air. Remove leaves and debris from the Lifan enclosure vents.
- Check coolant and fan: Verify coolant level and inspect the radiator fan for free rotation. Test the radiator fan motor by applying 12 V directly.
- Change oil and filter: Replace engine oil and the oil filter if service interval has been exceeded. Dirty oil can increase operating temperature.
- Monitor temperature: During a test run, periodically check engine and radiator temperature with an infrared thermometer to ensure they remain within normal range.
