Possible Causes
Cracked or loose muffler, Broken exhaust flex coupling, Worn engine mounts, Loose alternator or engine mounting bolts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and allow it to cool. Exhaust components and engine surfaces can be very hot.
- Inspect exhaust system: Check the Lifan muffler, exhaust pipe, and joints for cracks, holes, or loose clamps. Tighten mounting bolts and replace the muffler or exhaust gasket if damaged.
- Check flex coupling: If equipped, inspect the exhaust flex section for splits or fraying. Replace the exhaust flex coupling if leaking.
- Engine mounts: Inspect rubber engine mounts for cracking or separation. Replace worn engine mounts to reduce vibration and noise.
- Alternator and frame bolts: Tighten all visible mounting bolts on the alternator, engine, and base frame. Loose hardware can cause rattling and drumming noises.
