Possible Causes
Leaking fuel line or fitting, Stuck carburetor float causing overflow, Cracked fuel tank outlet, Misadjusted LPG/NG regulator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately shut down the generator, close the fuel supply, and ventilate the area. Do not smoke or create sparks near fuel vapors.
- Inspect fuel lines: Follow all fuel hoses from the tank to the engine. Look for wet spots, cracks, or loose clamps. Replace damaged fuel hoses and tighten clamps.
- Check carburetor overflow: On gasoline Lifan models, inspect the carburetor bowl vent and overflow tube. If fuel drips when the valve is open, the float or needle valve is stuck. Clean or replace the carburetor.
- Tank outlet and filter: Examine the tank outlet fitting and in-line filter for leaks. Replace the fuel filter or fitting if seeping.
- LPG/NG regulator: For gaseous fuel models, spray soapy water on regulator joints and hose connections while the system is pressurized. Bubbles indicate leaks; tighten fittings or replace the gas regulator.
- Test after repair: After fixing leaks, run the generator and recheck all joints. Any persistent fuel odor should be investigated by a professional.
