Possible Causes
Generator undersized for connected loads, Weak engine due to poor maintenance, Faulty governor response, Sticking choke (gas models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the generator from the building before reconfiguring loads. Turn OFF the generator when working inside the enclosure.
- Review load sizing: Compare the Lifan generator kW rating to the total starting and running kW of connected loads. Consider adding soft-start kits to large motors or reconfiguring load priorities.
- Engine tune-up: Replace air filter, fuel filter, and spark plug (gas) or service injectors (diesel) to restore full power.
- Check choke operation: Ensure the automatic choke on gasoline models opens fully after warm-up. A stuck choke can cause stalling under load. Replace the choke thermostat or linkage if faulty.
- Governor adjustment: Verify governor linkage is free and adjusted per Lifan specs to respond quickly to load changes.
