Possible Causes
Loose engine or alternator mounting bolts, Damaged engine mounts, Unbalanced cooling fan or flywheel, Misaligned alternator coupling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and wait for all rotating parts to stop.
- Check mounting hardware: Inspect and tighten all engine and alternator mounting bolts to the base frame. Use thread-locking compound where appropriate.
- Inspect engine mounts: Look for collapsed or torn rubber mounts. Replace any failed engine mounts.
- Fan and flywheel: Remove the fan guard and inspect the cooling fan for missing blades or debris. Replace the cooling fan if damaged. Check the flywheel for missing balance weights.
- Coupling alignment: On units with a flexible coupling between engine and alternator, inspect the coupling for wear and ensure alignment per Lifan specifications. Replace a worn flexible coupling.
