Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation louvers, Recirculation of hot exhaust air, Faulty intake air temperature sensor, Cooling fan malfunction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure adequate ventilation in the generator room and avoid exposure to hot surfaces.
- Check room ventilation: Verify that intake and exhaust louvers are open and unobstructed. Remove any debris or stored items blocking airflow.
- Inspect exhaust routing: Ensure exhaust pipes are properly insulated and routed so hot gases do not recirculate into the intake.
- Fan operation: Confirm that any room ventilation fans or radiator fans are operating correctly.
- Sensor verification: Compare the controller’s intake air temperature reading with an independent thermometer. Replace the intake air temperature sensor if it is out of tolerance.
- Re-test: After corrections, clear the F17 alarm and run the generator while monitoring intake temperature.
