Possible Causes
Emergency stop button engaged, Open remote stop circuit, Faulty E‑stop switch, Broken wiring in remote shutdown loop
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Confirm that it is safe to allow the generator to start (no personnel working on the unit). Keep the main breaker open until testing is complete.
- Step 1 – Check local E‑stop: Locate the red emergency stop button on the Multiquip generator enclosure. If it is pressed in, twist or pull it to reset (per label instructions). Verify that E12 clears.
- Step 2 – Inspect remote E‑stop or fire panel interface: If the unit is connected to a remote emergency stop or fire alarm panel, verify that those devices are not in an active shutdown state. Reset them if safe.
- Step 3 – Test E‑stop switch: With power off, disconnect the E‑stop switch leads and check continuity with a multimeter. The switch should be closed in the RUN position and open when pressed. Replace if readings are inconsistent.
- Step 4 – Check wiring loop: Trace the remote stop wiring from the controller terminals to all connected devices. Repair any open circuits or loose connections.
- Step 5 – Clear code and test AUTO: After restoring the stop loop, clear E12 and place the generator in AUTO. Simulate a power failure to confirm automatic start.
