Possible Causes
Low fuel in day tank, Faulty fuel level sender, Fuel leak in supply or return line, Defective fuel leak sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, open the main breaker, and eliminate all ignition sources. Work in a well‑ventilated area when inspecting for fuel leaks.
- Step 1 – Verify fuel level: Check the Multiquip tank gauge and, if accessible, visually confirm fuel level. Add fuel if low, following proper fueling procedures.
- Step 2 – Inspect for leaks: Trace the fuel supply and return lines from the tank to the engine. Look for wet spots, drips, or fuel odor. Tighten loose fittings and replace cracked hoses immediately.
- Step 3 – Check fuel level sender: Inspect the wiring to the fuel level sender on the tank. Clean and reseat the connector. If the gauge reading is inaccurate, test the sender resistance and replace if out of spec.
- Step 4 – Inspect leak sensor (if installed): Some Multiquip systems use a leak pan sensor. Check for fuel in the pan and clean it. Test the sensor per the manual and replace if it falsely indicates a leak.
- Step 5 – Clear code and test: After resolving leaks and level issues, clear E15 and run the generator while monitoring the fuel system.
