Possible Causes
Cracked fuel hose, Loose fuel filter or fittings, Leaking fuel injector return line, Corroded fuel tank
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately shut down the generator and open the main breaker. Eliminate all ignition sources. Do not smoke near the unit.
- Step 1 – Locate leak source: Use a flashlight to inspect fuel lines, filter, pump, and tank. Follow wet areas back to the highest point to find the source.
- Step 2 – Tighten fittings: Gently tighten hose clamps and threaded fittings at the leak point. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Step 3 – Replace damaged hoses or filter: If a hose is cracked or the filter housing is leaking, replace with Multiquip‑approved fuel hose and filter.
- Step 4 – Inspect tank: Check the tank bottom and seams for corrosion or pinholes. A leaking tank must be repaired or replaced; do not attempt temporary patches for standby service.
- Step 5 – Clean spill: Absorb spilled fuel with appropriate absorbent material and dispose of it according to local regulations.
