Generator frequency is consistently high or low under all loads

Safety first: Only trained personnel should adjust governor settings. Incorrect speed can damage equipment.

• Step 1 – Verify frequency: Measure frequency at the generator output with a calibrated meter.
• Step 2 – Inspect throttle linkage: With the engine off, move the throttle linkage by hand to ensure it is free and not binding. Lubricate pivot points lightly.
• Step 3 – Adjust governor (if qualified): Follow the Multiquip service manual to adjust the governor speed screw to achieve the correct no‑load frequency.
• Step 4 – Check electronic actuator: If mechanical adjustments have no effect, the electronic actuator or controller may be faulty and should be tested and replaced as needed.
