Possible Causes
Loose or damaged oil filter, Loose drain plug, Valve cover gasket leak, Crankshaft seal leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the engine to cool before touching hot surfaces. Disable auto-start.
- Clean and inspect: Clean oily areas with degreaser to identify the fresh leak source.
- Check oil filter and drain plug: Tighten the oil filter by hand (do not overtighten) and ensure the drain plug is snug. Replace the drain plug gasket if leaking.
- Valve cover gasket: Inspect around the valve cover. If leaking, replace the gasket following Onan procedures.
- Monitor oil level: Keep oil at the correct level and monitor for rapid loss. If a crankshaft seal or major leak is suspected, have a technician perform the repair.
