Possible Causes
Fuel tank level below sensor threshold, Faulty fuel level sender in day tank, Wiring fault between level sender and controller, Incorrect level calibration in controller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Observe all site rules for handling diesel fuel. No smoking or open flames near the tank.
- Confirm actual fuel level: Use the tank sight gauge or dipstick to verify fuel level. If low, refill with clean diesel and bleed the system if air has entered.
- Inspect level sender: Locate the fuel level sender on the main or day tank. Check for damaged float arms, stuck floats, or corrosion on terminals.
- Check wiring: Trace the cable from the sender to the controller. Look for crushed sections, loose glands, or water ingress in junction boxes.
- Calibrate in controller: On the Deep Sea/ComAp controller, verify that the fuel level input type (resistive/4–20 mA) and calibration points match the installed sender. Recalibrate if necessary.
- Replace sender if faulty: If resistance or current output from the sender does not change with fuel level, replace the fuel level sender.
