Possible Causes
Insufficient engine oil, Blocked oil cooler, Faulty oil temperature sensor, Prolonged overload operation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the engine to cool before touching oil system components. Hot oil can burn.
- Check oil level: Verify oil level on the dipstick and top up if needed with the correct Perkins‑specified oil.
- Inspect oil cooler: If the engine uses an external oil cooler, check for blocked fins (air‑cooled) or restricted coolant flow (water‑cooled). Clean or flush as appropriate.
- Sensor verification: Compare the controller’s oil temperature reading with an infrared thermometer on the oil filter housing. If readings differ greatly, suspect a faulty oil temperature sensor.
- Review load conditions: Check if the generator has been running above its rated kW for extended periods. Reduce load to within nameplate rating.
- Reset and monitor: After corrections, clear E014 and run the set while monitoring oil temperature trend.
