Possible Causes
Shorted engine sensor (e.g., pressure or temperature), Faulty ECU internal regulator, Wiring short to ground on sensor supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect battery negative before unplugging multiple sensors to avoid ECU damage.
- Identify affected sensors: Refer to the Perkins engine wiring diagram to find which sensors share the 5 V/8 V reference (e.g., oil pressure, fuel pressure, boost pressure).
- Unplug sensors one by one: Reconnect battery, then unplug each suspect sensor in turn while monitoring the controller for the E024 fault clearing. The sensor that, when unplugged, clears the fault is likely shorted.
- Inspect wiring: Look for chafed sensor harnesses where they pass over engine brackets or under clamps. Repair any shorts to ground.
- Replace faulty sensor: Install a new Perkins‑approved sensor for the identified circuit.
- ECU evaluation: If the supply remains low with all sensors unplugged and wiring intact, the ECU’s internal regulator may be damaged and the ECU will need replacement.
