Possible Causes
No generator available signal to ATS, Faulty ATS control wiring, ATS in manual or test mode, Failed ATS contactor mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Only qualified personnel should operate and test ATS equipment. High voltages are present.
- Check ATS mode: Confirm the ATS is in automatic mode and not locked in manual bypass.
- Generator available signal: Verify that the generator controller is sending a generator ready or available signal to the ATS when voltage and frequency are within limits.
- Control wiring: Inspect the control cable between generator panel and ATS for continuity and correct terminations.
- ATS mechanism: Observe ATS operation during a simulated mains failure. If the mechanism attempts to move but fails, the ATS contactor or motor may need replacement.
