Possible Causes

Low engine oil level, Failed oil pressure switch, Damaged oil pressure wiring harness, Blocked oil pickup or severely worn engine

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Put the generator in OFF mode, disconnect the battery negative terminal, and ensure the unit cannot start automatically. Allow the engine to cool fully before working on it.

  • Check oil level: Remove the dipstick and verify oil level is between MIN and MAX. Top up with the oil grade specified in the Pramac manual (typically 10W-30 or as specified) if low. Do not overfill.
  • Inspect for leaks: Look around the oil filter, drain plug, and crankcase gasket for fresh oil. Repair obvious leaks and retighten the drain plug and filter to spec.
  • Reset and test: Reconnect the battery, clear the alarm on the controller (follow the Pramac controller menu), then attempt a manual start. If E01 clears and the unit runs with normal oil pressure, monitor for recurrence.
  • Check oil pressure switch: If the code returns immediately, locate the oil pressure switch on the engine block. Inspect the connector for corrosion or loose fit. Clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reseat. If you have a multimeter, test continuity according to the engine/Pramac service manual.
  • Advanced check (technician recommended): If oil level is correct and the switch/wiring appear good, actual low oil pressure or internal engine wear may be present. Do not continue to run the generator. Contact a qualified Pramac service technician for mechanical oil pressure testing.
