Possible Causes
Fuel restriction (clogged fuel filter), Weak engine due to low compression or injector issues, Governor misadjustment, Heavy load applied too quickly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the unit OFF and disable AUTO. Allow the engine to cool before opening fuel system components. Keep ignition sources away from fuel.
- Check fuel level and quality: Ensure the fuel tank has adequate clean fuel (diesel or gas as specified). Drain and replace stale or contaminated fuel.
- Replace fuel filter: Locate the primary and/or secondary fuel filters used on your Pramac model. Close any fuel shutoff valves, remove the old filter, install a new OEM or equivalent filter, and bleed air according to the manual.
- Inspect air filter: A severely clogged air filter can reduce power. Remove and inspect; clean or replace if dirty.
- Test with reduced load: Start the generator manually with no load. If it runs at correct speed, gradually apply load. If E05 appears only under heavy load, the generator may be overloaded or the engine may have a power issue requiring professional diagnosis.
- Governor linkage: Inspect for binding or misadjustment. Do not change governor settings unless you have the proper tools and specifications; incorrect adjustment can cause instability.
