Possible Causes
Blocked tank vent, Collapsed fuel hose, Contaminated fuel with water, Partially clogged fuel pickup in tank
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and prevent automatic restarts. Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Check tank vent: Open the fuel cap and listen for a vacuum release. If the engine runs normally with the cap loosened, clean or replace the tank vent.
- Inspect fuel hoses: Look for kinks, soft spots, or collapsed sections between tank and engine. Replace degraded hoses with fuel-rated hose.
- Drain water: If the system has a water separator, drain the bowl and inspect for water. If significant water is present, drain and clean the tank and refill with clean fuel.
- Tank pickup: Remove and inspect the fuel pickup tube for debris or sludge. Clean or replace as needed.
