How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect the battery. Wear gloves and eye protection when cleaning corrosion.
- Clean battery terminals: Use a mixture of baking soda and water to neutralize acid on battery posts, then rinse and dry. Apply dielectric grease.
- Remove surface rust: Lightly sand rusted metal surfaces and apply rust-inhibiting primer and paint.
- Inspect connectors: Clean corroded electrical connectors and apply contact cleaner and dielectric grease.
Severe corrosion on structural or critical electrical components may require part replacement to ensure safe operation.
