Generator display shows E05 and the unit will not start; sometimes accompanied by a clicking sound from the control panel.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the generator OFF, disconnect the battery negative cable, and ensure all AC breakers are open. Avoid static discharge when handling circuit boards.
- Inspect control panel for moisture: Open the Pulsar control panel cover and look for signs of condensation, rust, or water tracks. If moisture is present, gently dry the area with a clean cloth and allow the unit to air dry for several hours before retrying.
- Check low-voltage fuses: Locate the small automotive-style fuses on the control PCB. Remove and visually inspect each fuse; replace any blown fuses with the same amperage rating.
- Reseat harness connectors: Carefully unplug and replug the multi-pin connectors going to the control board, ensuring they latch fully. Look for bent pins or corrosion.
- Battery polarity and voltage: Confirm the battery is connected with correct polarity and that voltage is within spec (around 12.6 V). Incorrect voltage can trigger control faults.
If E05 persists after these checks, the main control PCB is likely defective and should be replaced with the correct Pulsar replacement board. This procedure often requires configuration and should be done by an authorized service provider.
