Possible Causes

Blocked cooling air intake or exhaust, Low engine oil causing overheating, Faulty engine cooling fan, Defective temperature sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the generator to cool completely (at least 30–45 minutes) before inspection. Do not open panels while the engine is hot or running.

  • Inspect air inlets and outlets: Check the Pulsar generator enclosure vents for leaves, dust, snow, or debris. Clear any obstructions from intake grilles and exhaust openings to restore airflow.
  • Verify clearance around unit: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the generator per Pulsar installation guidelines (typically several feet on all sides). Remove stored items or vegetation blocking airflow.
  • Check engine oil level: Low oil can increase engine temperature. Top up with the recommended oil if needed.
  • Inspect cooling fan operation: With the unit in MANUAL, briefly start the generator and observe whether the engine-mounted cooling fan or electric enclosure fan (if equipped) is spinning. Shut down immediately if the fan is not operating and inspect for broken blades, loose belts, or failed fan motor.
  • Examine temperature sensor wiring: With power OFF, locate the engine temperature sensor on the cylinder head or block. Ensure its connector is secure and wiring is not damaged or shorted to ground.

Repeated E06 faults after cleaning vents and verifying oil level may indicate a failing fan or temperature sensor, which should be replaced to prevent engine damage.
