Possible Causes

Aged or sulfated battery, Failed battery charger module, Loose battery cables, Parasitic drain from accessories

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the generator OFF and disable AUTO. Wear eye protection when working around batteries.

  • Measure battery voltage: Use a multimeter across the Pulsar generator battery terminals. If below about 12.2 V, the battery is discharged. Charge the battery with an external charger and retest.
  • Inspect battery charger: With AC utility power present and the generator in standby, measure DC voltage at the battery. It should read around 13.2–13.6 V if the built-in charger is working. If it remains at raw battery voltage, the charger module or its AC feed may be faulty.
  • Check cable connections: Tighten the positive and negative battery terminals and inspect for corrosion. Clean as needed.
  • Look for parasitic loads: Ensure no aftermarket accessories are connected directly to the battery that could be draining it.

If the battery fails to hold a charge after proper charging, replace it with a Pulsar-approved starting battery. If the new battery also discharges, the onboard battery charger or control board must be tested and possibly replaced.
