Possible Causes

Stuck governor linkage, Failed electronic governor module, Misadjusted throttle stop, Control board speed sensing fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not attempt to run the generator repeatedly in an overspeed condition; severe engine and alternator damage can occur. Turn the unit OFF and disconnect the battery before inspection.

  • Inspect throttle and governor linkage: Check that the throttle plate on the carburetor or throttle body is not jammed open. Ensure the governor spring and linkage are intact and not disconnected.
  • Look for recent adjustments: If the governor or throttle stop screw was recently adjusted, return it to the factory setting per the Pulsar service manual. Unauthorized adjustments can cause overspeed.
  • Check for broken governor components: If the governor arm moves freely without resistance, the internal governor mechanism may be damaged.

Because overspeed is a critical safety issue, further diagnosis of the electronic governor module and control board should be done by a professional. Do not bypass or defeat overspeed protection.
