Possible Causes

Failed engine charging alternator, Broken alternator belt (if belt‑driven), Faulty battery charge regulator, Open charging fuse

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the generator before inspecting belts or wiring.

  • Measure charging voltage: With the generator running, measure voltage at the battery. It should be around 13.5–14.5 V. If it remains at rest voltage, charging is not occurring.
  • Inspect belt: On belt‑driven alternators, check for a broken or slipping belt. Replace and tension correctly.
  • Check charging fuse: Locate the DC charging fuse between the alternator and battery. Replace if blown after checking for shorts.
  • Test alternator and regulator: Follow the Scheppach service procedure to test alternator output and regulator function. Replace the faulty component.
