Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This condition can be extremely dangerous. Turn OFF the generator, open the main utility breaker, and lock out both sources. Only qualified electricians should work on this fault.
- Inspect ATS wiring: Verify that the Scheppach‑approved ATS is wired exactly as per the wiring diagram: utility lines to the LINE terminals, generator lines to GEN terminals, and load to LOAD terminals. Correct any cross‑connections.
- Check mechanical interlock: Ensure the ATS mechanism physically prevents utility and generator contactors from closing simultaneously. Replace worn or damaged interlock parts.
- Verify phase rotation: On three‑phase Scheppach standby generators, confirm phase sequence (L1‑L2‑L3) matches the building system. Swap phases at the generator output if necessary, following the manual.
- Controller configuration: Confirm that the controller is set for the correct phase and voltage configuration (single‑phase/three‑phase, 230/400 V, etc.). Incorrect settings can trigger E08.
Due to the risk of backfeeding the grid, this repair should be completed by a licensed electrician.
