Possible Causes
Air in high‑pressure fuel lines, Clogged injector, Weak or failed lift pump, Faulty fuel shutoff solenoid on injection pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and keep the area well ventilated. Diesel fuel is flammable; avoid open flames.
- Prime fuel system: Use the manual priming pump on the fuel filter housing (if equipped) to purge air. Loosen the bleed screw until fuel flows without bubbles, then tighten.
- Check lift pump operation: Turn the key ON and listen/feel for the electric lift pump. If silent, check its fuse and wiring. Replace the pump if it does not run with power applied.
- Inspect fuel shutoff solenoid: On the injection pump, verify that the fuel shutoff solenoid actuates when the key is turned ON. A clicking sound or movement should be felt. Replace if inoperative.
- Crack injector lines: For stubborn air locks, slightly loosen one injector line nut at the injector, crank the engine until fuel spurts, then tighten. Repeat for 1–2 cylinders only, following the Scheppach service procedure.
- Injector cleaning: If the engine starts but runs rough with E12, have the injectors professionally cleaned or replaced.
