Possible Causes
Low fuel in tank, Stuck fuel level float, Faulty fuel level sender, Corroded connector at tank sender
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and keep ignition sources away from the fuel tank.
- Verify fuel level: Open the fuel tank access and visually confirm the fuel level. If low, add the correct fuel type up to the recommended fill level. Do not overfill.
- Check for sender sticking: Gently tap the side of the fuel tank near the level sender with a rubber mallet to free a stuck float. Watch the control panel to see if the level reading changes.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the fuel level sender connector on top of the tank. Disconnect and inspect for corrosion or bent pins. Clean and reconnect firmly.
- Sender resistance test: With the connector unplugged, measure the sender resistance and compare to the Scheppach spec for the current fuel level. Replace the fuel level sender if readings are out of range.
- Clear code and test: After refueling and any repairs, clear E16 on the controller and run the generator to confirm normal operation.
