Possible Causes
Damaged or collapsed anti‑vibration mounts, Loose engine or alternator mounting bolts, Bent fan or rotor, Misaligned coupling on liquid‑cooled sets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator, disconnect battery negative, and wait for all rotating parts to stop.
- Inspect mounting feet: Check the rubber anti‑vibration mounts between the generator frame and base. Replace any that are cracked, oil‑soaked, or collapsed.
- Tighten mounting bolts: Verify that engine and alternator mounting bolts are torqued to specification. Tighten any loose fasteners.
- Check fan and rotor: Look through the cooling openings for a broken or missing fan blade. Replace a damaged fan. If the alternator rotor appears to wobble, professional service is required.
- Coupling alignment (if applicable): On sets with a flexible coupling between engine and alternator, inspect the coupling for wear and check alignment per the Scheppach manual.
