Possible Causes
Stale fuel in tank, Clogged carburetor jets (petrol), Water contamination in diesel fuel, Choked air filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the generator and disconnect battery negative. Work in a well‑ventilated area away from flames.
- Check fuel age and smell: If fuel is older than 3 months or smells sour, drain the tank and carburetor/injection system. Refill with fresh fuel of the correct type.
- Inspect air filter: Remove the air filter element and check for heavy dirt or oil. Clean or replace with a Scheppach‑approved filter.
- Carburetor cleaning (petrol): Remove the carburetor bowl, clean out varnish and debris, and blow through the main and idle jets with carb cleaner and compressed air. Reassemble with a new bowl gasket if needed.
- Diesel water check: On diesel models, open the water drain on the fuel filter and look for water separation. Drain until clean fuel flows and replace the filter if contaminated.
