Possible Causes
Mechanical failure in ATS contactor, Control signal not reaching ATS, Manual bypass left in wrong position, Interlock jammed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate both utility and generator sources. Only a licensed electrician should open the ATS enclosure.
- Check ATS status indicator: Many Scheppach‑compatible ATS units have LEDs or mechanical flags showing source selection. Confirm it is not stuck between positions.
- Verify control signal: Measure the coil voltage at the ATS generator contactor when the generator is running. If absent, trace the control wiring back to the generator controller.
- Inspect mechanical linkage: Look for broken springs, bent arms, or debris preventing full travel of the contactor. Clean and repair as needed.
- Manual operation test: If the ATS has a manual lever, operate it (with both sources OFF) to confirm smooth movement. If it binds, the ATS may need replacement.
