Possible Causes
Overcharging battery by SDMO charger, Poor ventilation around battery, Old flooded-cell battery gassing excessively, Loose battery connections causing heating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Wear eye and hand protection. Neutralize acid spills with baking soda solution and avoid sparks near the battery.
- Clean terminals: Disconnect battery and clean corrosion from terminals and cable lugs. Apply protective grease after reassembly.
- Check charger output: Measure charger voltage and adjust or replace if it exceeds recommended float voltage.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure the battery compartment has adequate ventilation to disperse hydrogen gas.
- Replace aged battery: If the battery is old and gassing heavily, replace it with an SDMO-recommended type.
