Possible Causes
Coolant leak in hoses or radiator, Faulty coolant level sensor in expansion tank, Loose hose clamps, Cracked expansion tank on SDMO set
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the engine to cool fully before opening the cooling system. Pressurized hot coolant is dangerous.
- Inspect coolant level: Check the expansion tank and radiator (when cool). Top up with the correct coolant mix. If level drops again, locate and repair leaks.
- Check hoses and clamps: Examine all coolant hoses on the SDMO generator for cracks, bulges, or wet spots. Tighten or replace hose clamps as needed.
- Inspect coolant level sensor: Remove the sensor from the expansion tank and clean any deposits. Test its operation with a multimeter according to SDMO specifications. Replace if faulty.
- Check radiator and tank: Look for signs of seepage around the radiator core and expansion tank seams. Replace damaged components.
- Reset alarm: After restoring proper coolant level and fixing leaks, clear AL10 and run the generator while monitoring for further loss.
