How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Be prepared to use the manual stop lever on the engine if the automatic stop fails. Keep clear of moving parts.
- Test manual stop: Use the engine's manual stop lever to confirm that the fuel rack or throttle can be moved to the stop position. Lubricate linkages if stiff.
- Check stop solenoid operation: With the engine off, apply DC voltage directly to the SDMO stop solenoid and listen/feel for actuation. Replace the solenoid if it does not move.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the stop solenoid wiring back to the SDMO controller output. Repair any damaged cables or loose terminals.
- Verify controller output: During a stop command, measure voltage at the solenoid terminals. If no voltage is present, the controller output or relay may be faulty and require replacement.
- Reset AL19: After restoring proper stop function, clear the alarm and test several start/stop cycles.
