Possible Causes
Clogged SDMO air filter element, Collapsed intake hose, Blocked air intake grille in canopy, Faulty air restriction switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Stop the generator and ensure the engine cannot start automatically while working on the intake system.
- Inspect air filter: Remove the air filter cover and examine the element. Replace if dirty, oily, or damaged using an SDMO-approved filter.
- Check intake ducting: Inspect hoses from the air filter to the turbocharger or intake manifold for collapse or internal blockage. Replace any deformed hoses.
- Clean canopy intake: Remove debris from the SDMO canopy air intake grilles and louvers to ensure adequate airflow.
- Test restriction switch: If fitted, test the air restriction switch or sensor with a multimeter. Replace if it falsely indicates restriction.
- Reset AL24: After restoring airflow, clear the alarm and run the generator while monitoring intake noise and performance.
