Generator attempts to start but stops after a few seconds; controller displays F02 Low Oil Pressure.

Safety first: Turn the generator to OFF, open the main breaker, and allow the engine to cool completely before checking oil. Hot oil can cause burns.

• Check oil level: Remove the engine dipstick and verify oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks. Top up with the Siemens-specified engine oil grade for your model (commonly 10W-30 or 15W-40) if low. Do not overfill.
• Inspect for leaks: Look around the oil filter, drain plug, oil cooler lines, and crankcase gasket for fresh oil. Tighten a loose oil filter by hand and clean any oil to monitor for new leaks.
• Reset and test: After correcting oil level, clear the F02 alarm on the controller and attempt a manual start. Watch the oil pressure gauge (if equipped) or verify the unit continues to run without re-triggering F02.
• Test oil pressure switch: If F02 returns immediately but oil level is correct, disconnect the wire from the oil pressure switch on the engine block. With the engine off, check continuity to ground; it should be closed. If it reads open or intermittent, replace the oil pressure switch with a Siemens-approved part.
• Advanced checks (technician): If the engine starts but mechanical gauge shows low pressure, or F02 persists with a new switch, internal engine lubrication issues may exist (oil pump, bearings). Contact a qualified Siemens generator technician; continued running can cause severe engine damage.
