Possible Causes
No fuel delivery, Faulty glow plugs (diesel), Ignition failure (gasoline), Incorrect start sequence or controller configuration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the starter to cool between attempts to avoid damage. Disable AUTO mode before working on the unit.
- Check fuel supply: Confirm fuel level and that any manual shutoff valves are open. Replace the fuel filter if restricted.
- Inspect glow plug circuit (diesel): Verify the glow plug indicator (if present) illuminates during preheat. Measure voltage at glow plugs during preheat; if absent, check the glow plug relay and fuse.
- Test glow plugs: Remove and bench-test for correct resistance and heating. Replace any open or weak plugs.
- Ignition check (gasoline): Remove a spark plug, reconnect the lead, ground the plug body, and crank. Look for strong blue spark. Replace plugs or ignition coil if spark is weak or absent.
- Air intake: Ensure the air filter is not completely blocked. Replace if heavily contaminated.
- Controller parameters: Confirm that fuel type and start delay settings in the Wacker Neuson controller match the engine. Incorrect settings can shorten preheat or crank time.
- Clear E11: After correcting issues, reset the controller and attempt a manual start.
